Job Summary:
We’re seeking a skilled and driven OSP/ISP Engineering Operations Manager to lead our outside and inside plant engineering teams. This role is critical in the planning, design, and execution of fiber optic and broadband infrastructure projects. You’ll ensure high-quality, scalable, and cost-effective solutions that support current and future network demands.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Oversee the Engineering personnel, including the OSP/ISP Engineers, Drafters and Field Personnel.
Required Education / Experience & Qualifications:
· 7+ years of OSP/ISP engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership/management role
· Experience with rural broadband or large-scale FTTH deployments
· Knowledge of industry standards such as BICSI, TIA/EIA, RUS
· Experience working with public utilities and municipalities
· Strong understanding of fiber optic network design, routing, and splicing
· Familiarity with permitting, pole attachments, ROW, and construction processes
· Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS tools, and fiber design platforms
· Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
· Knowledge of computer applications and functions including, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, ESRI, CAD, and other related software
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Ability to work with remote team members
· Excellent written and verbal skills
· Genuine enthusiasm toward learning, pushing technical limits and finding new solutions
· Ability to think analytically and solve problems
· Ability to excel in a detail-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy
Preferred Education / Experience & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· PMP or similar certification a plus
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage a team of OSP and ISP engineers, drafters, and field personnel
· Oversee the design and engineering of outside plant (aerial and underground) and inside plant fiber networks
· Ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards and local regulations
· Develop and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and best practices
· Collaborate with construction, permitting, GIS, and network operations teams
· Support network expansion, maintenance, and upgrade initiatives
· Manage vendor relationships and evaluate engineering tools/software
· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team
· Collaborate with the Director regarding deadline requirements and team reports
· Create calendar and timeline projections for the team
· Implement and maintain team deadline expectations
· Prepare and present project updates and engineering reports to leadership
· Assist with interviewing new hire candidates
· Assist with team disciplinary actions as requested
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Vision to allow prolonged periods of computer work
· Vision to allow differences in colors, shades and brightness
· Light to moderate lifting is required
· Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to use different types of office equipment
· Must be able to tolerate moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic)
Travel Required: Up to 75%.
