Job Summary:
The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for engineering functions specific to the implementation of Outside Plant Network copper and fiber, aerial and underground, within a specific geographic region. This position will ensure work order packages which may include detailed field notes, staking, cut sheets, schematics, and permit/easement/private ROW details are completed by their team. The Engineering Supervisor should be familiar with the OSP engineering process from planning to construction and will have the ability to assist in providing cost effective solutions for the placement of communications facilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises Engineer team members
Required Education / Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Leadership and Employee Management experience
- Ability to create processes to help team be successful
- Experience with permits, easements, ROW regulations, fiber optic and copper Networks
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to accurately report on all stages of project
- Must have a high level of initiative and follow-up support capability working with limited supervision
- Strong interpersonal & verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Comfortable working with tight deadlines
Preferred Education / Experience & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of RUS (Rural Utility Standards) coding & National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures engineering work packages are complete prior to submitting to QA/QC Department.
- Provides leadership to their team.
- Completes performance evaluations for team members 2 times a year.
- Conducts corrective training and feedback to team members as needed.
- Ensures all specifications and construction requirements for cable placing, splicing, equipment selection, safety, commercial building applications and conduit systems are followed.
- Conduct meetings with Client to go over all project prior to final design.
- Pro-active in anticipating and initiating jobs so they are complete when the customer wants the service.
- Assist Leadership with new Project quotes and budget submittals.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Vision to allow prolonged periods of computer work
- Vision to allow differences in colors, shades and brightness
- Light to moderate lifting is required
- Must be able to tolerate moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic)
- Travel Required 25% of the time
