The Engineering QA/QC is responsible for verifying that all work engineering does for specific Clients ensuring that all work conforms to the client’s expectations prior to being handed off to the client for approval.  This position will prepare QA/QC score cards from the Engineering packages which may include detailed field notes, staking, cut sheets, schematics, and permit/easement/private ROW details. The Engineering QA/QC should be familiar with the OSP engineering process from planning to construction and will have the ability to assist in providing corrective actions and effective solutions for how to meet the customer’s expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Review engineering work packages including prints
  • Provides approval of all engineering work packages prior to Customer submittal.
  • Confirms engineering records and systems remain accurate for the geographic region.
  • Ensures all specifications and construction requirements for cable placing, splicing, equipment selection, safety, commercial building applications and conduit systems are followed.
  • Certifies all new developments have sufficient facilities.
  • Pro-active in anticipating and initiating jobs so they are complete when the customer wants the service.
Related Qualities
  • CAD/ArcGis design experience preferred
  • Knowledge of RUS (Rural Utility Standards) coding & National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards a plus
  • Experience with permits, easements, ROW regulations, fiber optic and copper cables
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to accurately report on all stages of project
  • Must have a high level of initiative and follow-up support capability working with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines
Physical Requirements: 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Vision to allow prolonged periods of computer work
  • Vision to allow differences in colors, shades and brightness
  • Light to moderate lifting is required
  • Must be able to tolerate moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and light traffic)
