Drafter – CAD
Job Summary
The Drafter is essentially the go-to person for every drawing and digital representation of the project. This is a position of great responsibility, requiring not only excellent CAD skills, but good communications skills, optimal organizational abilities and the strongest possible focus on quality. This person is the keeper of the drawings throughout the entire project and ongoing record keeping from planning in new construction to maintaining existing plant records.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Create and maintain utility drawings
- Ongoing drawing updates with focused collaboration with engineers and project managers
- Management and organization of all drawings related to project
- Creating accurate CAD drawings from sketches, verbal instructions, and site visits
- Seamlessly integrating and working with engineers, project managers, clients and sub-contractors to produce and alter-drawings.
- Thinking creatively and critically to support the project team in the design process
- Creating and continually updating project
- Preparing various formats of sheet; staking, construction and redline are available throughout the project
- Ensure that the most accurate information is available on shared files and web services
- Exhaustively reviewing and checking for errors through all stages of the project
- Seeking clarity and understanding from engineers and project managers when you are not 100% certain of something
Required Skills/Abilities
- A two-year degree in Computer Added Drafting – preferred
- Working knowledge of Office software
- Excellent communications skills; listening, comprehension and feedback
- Willingness to learn new technology and software
- A passion for doing high quality work
- The ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical problems
- High attention to detail is a MUST
- Team oriented
- Strong work ethic and ability to handle peak work times
- Willingness to work occasional overtime
- Willingness to travel if necessary
- Capacity to handle pressure
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
